Less Sugar – Less Problems?

Most of the foods in today's diet contain sugar and even the healthier ready to eat foods that seem to be healthy for you can also have hidden sugars. The body does need sugar to provide energy to do daily tasks and especially for physical activity like walking, jogging, or exercising in the gym. The excess sugar, however, is stored in the body as fat and over time if more sugar-rich foods are consumed and the body does not need it then it becomes stored as fat and insulin, a hormone that regulates sugar in the blood, will not be able to keep up with the sugar content and there becomes the development of diabetes and heart disease. What if people were to consume less sugar? How much of an impact would it have on the body? How different would the body feel?
The American Heart Association recommends that women consume no more than 20 grams of sugar and men consume no more than 36 grams for the day. Considering that most of the foods contain a great deal of sugar, it can be difficult to reduce the sugar intake but it is not impossible and your body will go through a myriad of changes and will definitely thank you for cutting back. Some benefits of cutting down sugar from the diet are:
Improves memory – A study conducted at the UCLA, consuming sugar in excess slows down the transmitters in the brain which causes the brain to slow down and the loss of memory reducing the sugar will cause the body to use sugar for energy which doesn't allow them to become attached to the transmitters for better brain function. 
Better sleep – the sugar rush and crash causes the body to release cortisol that induces sleep and is the reason why after a sugar rush you always feel sleepy. The less sugar you intake, the body will be more alert and be more focused and as the evening winds down the body will be in a better and restful state for bed.
Fewer breakouts – the less sugar in the body the less the skin will become inflamed and thus less acne or pimples on the skin. A study conducted the America Journal showed that person who consumed less soda in a week reduced their inflammation levels by 87 percent. 
Weight loss is more effective – the sugar intake slows down the normal body functions. The hormone leptin that controls out appetite is affected when there is a lot of sugar in the body. Cutting down the sugar intake causes for fat to actually be burned and for weight to be lost. A study shows that cutting back on sugar can naturally
without exercise causes weight loss of about 5 to 9 pounds over a 6 month period.
Reduces chances of developing illnesses – Excess sugar in the blood and cells causes inflammation and over time leaves the body susceptible to other illnesses like heart diseases and asthma. Reducing sugars and simple carbs like bread that break down into sugar from the diet will cause the cells to be less inflamed and reduce the chances of developing illnesses.
Sugar is not necessarily a bad thing to incorporate in any diet but the key is always moderation. After a year of cutting sugar from the diet, the body will feel less weighed down and healthier as well as be less susceptible to diseases or illnesses like the cold/flu and healthier skin.
